I say "a" because there was only one comforter and it wasn't mine it was my sisters who slept on the top bunk. My mom hadn't made mine yet........... I'm still waiting. So every time I return home to visit I give my mom crap about it or my sister because I am a turdy daughter/sister, and because it's fun. So this year for Christmas we were all together for the first time in decades, so I decided to make my self a Rainbow Brite Quilt and give it to myself from my mom, I thought it would be funny. Who knew vintage sheets like this cost over $30 bucks on Ebay... $30 bucks!!! but hey in the name a joke I did it. After purchasing this one fitted sheet for and arm and a leg I didn't want to cut it up 1.) because it would be so much smaller and I wanted it to be big enough to wrap around me and my girth 2.) I didn't want to loose the pattern 3.) the original one my mom made was the sheet backed in a white sheet that was hand tied and plain..... but that is too boring and I hate hand tying quilts (because I suck at it and I like the quilted look better). Anyway I decided to just add plus signs all over it, in different sizes and of patterns in red and orange . Nothing fancy I just ironed over the edges and sewed it straight on the top as close to the edge as possible.
On Christmas morning I opened it up and said "Awwwe Mom you finally made it for me" she said she didn't make it and then I said "Oh that's right I had to make it for myself" got some giggles and it was all worth the end product of...... a fat $75 dollars it cost me to make a quilt about a animated character I really don't care about and having no daughters to even love it.... but hey now my boys always curl up in it to watch batman cartoons so there you go...!!!
